Police in Connecticut say a man and woman from Veazie were arrested after they were caught with 80 baggies of heroin.

Police said they pulled over a white Toyota Camry on Route 15 in Fairfield, near Bridgeport, for following too closely, Connecticut Sate Police said in a Facebook post Wednesday.

Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers noticed a used heroin baggy in plain sight, prompting an investigation, the post said.

Through the course of the investigation, state troopers and a Wilton police K9 team located and seized over 80 baggies of heroin, a small amount of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, according to police.

Police arrested two residents of Hobson Avenue in Veazie, Anthony McLaughlin, 33, the driver of the vehicle, and Riley Cannell, 22, a passenger in the car.

Both suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit possession of narcotics, conspiracy to commit possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy to commit possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of an untaxed drug and possession of less than one-half ounce of cannabis.

McLaughlin was also charged with following too closely.

The two were being held in a Connecticut jail on $15,000 bond Wednesday morning, and were scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court later in the day.
