State Police Question Man in Connection with Dead Body Found in Vassalboro

State Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found on property adjacent to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy along Route 201 in the central Maine town of Vassalboro.

The body was found by Kennebec County deputies who were called to the scene about 7 a.m., according to a news release from Maine Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland.

The body has since been identified as belonging to 69-year-old Thomas Namer, who lived at 89 Pleasant St. in Waterville. The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta is conducting an autopsy.

Police have classified the death as suspicious.

Ina news release, police said that during the course of the investigation, a Vassalboro man was taken into custody for a probation violation unrelated to the death.

Courtney Shea, 30, lives next door to where the body was found, and as he was being interviewed by detectives, it was determined he had violated probation for a past robbery conviction, accoridng to police. Shea was arrested on the probation charge and taken to the Kennebec County Jail.
