A 20-year-old man was killed and two juveniles injured in a single-car crash in Unity last night that knocked out power for some residents.

Police have identified the victim as  20-year-old Harold Fickett III of Clifton.

The accident happened at around 9 p.m.on the Bangor Road, near the intersection with Spruce Lane. The vehicle struck a utility pole, trapping the three occupants inside.

Fickett was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rescue workers used the jaws of life to extricate the trio and the two other occupants, including the driver, were taken to Waldo County Hospital in Belfast. There's no word on how badly they were hurt.

Bangor Road had to be shut down for a time and power was knocked out to some area residents. Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash that remains under investigation.

Troopers said a chocolate Labrador retriever  named Josie ran off from the crash site and any area residents who have seen the dog should call the Public Safety dispatch center in Augusta at 624-7076
