Two men from Massachusetts are facing charges in connection with the seizure of heroin in Waldoboro.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says 34-year-old Cameron Soto is charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs, while 18-year-old Trevor Teves is charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Both men are from Bedford, Massachusetts.

The arrests were the result of a month-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency's Mid-Coast District Task Force, the Knox County Sheriff's Office, and Rockland Police. Soto was released earlier this year from the Maine State Prison after serving a sentence for trafficking in Oxycodone. He's been under investigation since his release, suspected of selling heroin/fentanyl and cocaine in Knox County.

On Wednesday afternoon, the two men were arrested as they were sitting in a parked car on the Waldoboro/Warren Town line, preparing to travel to Massachusetts. About six grams of heroin/fentanyl were seized from Soto, along with $1,800 in suspected drug proceeds. Teves was charged after police found a loaded 9mm handgun in his pocket. He's a convicted felon and so prohibited from possessing guns.

Both men were taken to the Knox County Jail, where bail was set for Soto at $25,000 cash and $1,000 cash for Teves.
