Twinkies Will Last Longer Than Ever Before

Twinkies will return next week, with a longer life span!

On July 15th Twinkies hit shelves again, with a longer shelf life. The old Twinkies had a shelf life of 26 days. Hostess Brands LLC says the new Twinkies can stay on shelves for 45 days!

The longer shelf life was a goal of the old company, but went bankrupt before production could start. The company won't disclose what changes they made to the spongy yellow cakes to ramp up their life span, calling it 'proprietary information.'

The company also says it plans on freezing the cakes for shipping so retailers can mark their own expiration date. Per request of Twenkie retailers, 10% of Hostess' distribution will receive the frozen cakes. However, the company will not disclose which retailers will be getting the frozen cakes.

Twenkies will still taste the same, frozen or not. The company wrote a statement:

'Any suggestion that Hostess is changing the integrity of the iconic snack cakes consumers have loved is completely untrue.'
