A Massachusetts man was killed after being struck by a car while he was walking in the Maine town of Limerick.

WABI-TV reports the accident happened at around noon on Monday. 47-year-old John Mullin of Wilmington, Massachusetts was walking near state Route 11 when a car rolled onto the sidewalk and hit him. He walk taken by ambulance to a Biddeford hospital and then transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he later died.

The York County Sheriff's Office says a 41-year-old Limerick man was taken into custody sometime later when he told authorities that he had hit Mullin and then left the scene. He allegedly told police that he was using another person's car and didn't have permission to drive it.

Charges are expected in the case.
