Today is an Extra Weird Friday the 13th

As if Friday the 13th isn't already creepy...

If you're superstitious about Friday the 13th, you're not alone! Famous folk like Napoleon and Franklin Roosevelt were creeped out by it. Matter of fact, FDR wouldn't travel on any 13th day of the month. He also made sure never to host a dinner with 13 guests. In France you can hire a professional 14th dinner guest...I think I found my calling!

With the cloudy evening weather you probably didn't get to see much of the June Moon (aka the Honey Moon or Strawberry Moon.) It was fullest at 12:11 this morning, but tonight you'll still see a full moon. The last time a full moon landed on a Friday the 13th was back in October 2000. It won't happen again for another 35 years.

Other spacey Friday freakyness, today the Earth will be hit with a 'solar shockwave' prompted by three solar flares. The relatively weak flares erupted from the sun on Tuesday. The only effects we may experience are brief communication disruptions, if any.

If we survive today, rejoice! This is the only Friday the 13th of 2014!
