The Secret World is holding a music competition! The lucky winners will have their music implemented in the game itself, for all of the secret societies to hear. Here's to hoping that there are no subliminal messages in the songs!

Funcom is inviting everyone to participate in the competition, allowing both solo artists and groups to contribute their aural stylings. The winning pieces will be stuck into the game and played in appropriate settings. You can rest assured that your death metal masterpiece won't be played in some serene garden.

The official site has posted the rules for the event, which are as follows:

  • The contest will run for three weeks, from Tuesday the 29th of January and until the 19th of February. This will be the period to submit your contributions.
  • Every music contribution sent must be of your own creation or be sent with the consent of its creators. The creators of the winning contributions will be asked to sign an agreement outlining the legal considerations.
  • After an evaluation period the chosen winners will be announced, and the locations where their music can be heard will be revealed.
  • The chosen music will be implemented at the earliest convenience of the development team.

The music will be judged by Funcom's own Audio Director, Simon Poole. He worked on the game's soundtrack and did some editing and mastering of the music that appeared in the launch trailer.

“We already have many artists contributing with their music to the game, and to now give players the opportunity to let their music sound across the radios of The Secret World is even more exciting," said Poole.

Aim to impress this man's ears, people!
