The satire site The Onion used Camden, Maine as its setting for a story about a fictional "loser" who is happy despite staying in his hometown.

In the story, we meet Michael Husmer, "an unambitious 29-year-old loser who leads an enjoyable and fulfilling life, still lives in his hometown and has no desire to leave."

The story then goes on to quote his childhood friend who wonders why Humser wasn't more concerned with "getting ahead."

"It’s almost like he’s saying, ‘I don’t give a s**t—I just want to be an emotionally stable husband and father who’s not obsessed with climbing the corporate ladder and impressing complete strangers with my job title,’” [high school friend Caitlin] Sese added. “Pathetic.”

Now, we'll say it again: This isn't real. It's satire. But it does raise an interesting question:
