No surprise what city came in first...

Real estate blog, Movoto, found the most exciting places to live in Maine. The list was determined by a bunch of factors.

Those factors were:

  • Population density
  • Nightlife
  • Arts and Entertainment
  • Live music venues
  • % of young residents ages 18 to 34 (the higher the better)
  • Active life options
  • Fast Food restaurants (the fewer the better)
  • % of restaurants that are not fast food (the higher the better)

The results:

1 - City of Portland
2 - City of Rockland
3 - Town of Orono
4 - Village of Gorham
5 - Town of Old Orchard Beach
6 - City of Bangor
6 - City of Bath
8 - Town of Brunswick
9 - City of Biddeford
10 - City of Westbrook

It's no surprise Portland ranked #1. The well established college towns of Orono and Gorham fared well. Bangor and Bath both tied in the middle of the pack. Westbrook, also known as 'This isn't Portland?' capped off the top ten.
