The Cure will embark on a 25-city North American tour in 2016, according to the band's official website.

The legendary British alternative rock band announced the first three dates of the tour -- The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 22, the UIC Pavilion in Chicago on June and Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 18.

The Cure has sold more than 27 million albums in their career, with their 1989 single "Lovesong" peaking at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard charts.

It was their 1987 album "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" that brought them widespread exposure in the states, though, and of course, most kids who grew up in the '80s also had a copy of "Standing on the Beach: The Singles."

Their songs have been featured in many movies, including "The Wedding Singer," "Grosse Point Blank" and "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist."

More dates will be announced in January.
