For our money, James Wan’s The Conjuring was one of the scariest movies of the past few years. While it was a spin of the classic haunted-house/possession genre that we’ve seen before, it was so skillfully executed, you looked past any tropes. The film would up being so successful — the second highest grossing original horror movie of all-time following only The Exorcist — that Wan was hired to direct Fast & Furious 7. Instead of returning to that franchise for an eighth installment, Wan returned to the world of horror to direct The Conjuring 2, and we’ve got your first look at this summer’s sequel with the new trailer.

As is hinted at in the trailer, the events of The Conjuring 2 follows the real life story of the Enfield Poltergeist, a haunting that allegedly took place in London in the late-70s (it was later revealed that the young girls were just playing elaborate pranks on the paranormal researchers).

This new trailer has everyone you’d want from a horror movie trailer including creepy kids, creepy kids’ toys, creepy kids’ songs, ghosts jumping out of the shadows and people screaming. But, like with the original movie, because Wan is in complete control of his craft, none of it feels cheap.

Here’s what the official synopsis looks like:

Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (Up In the Air, TV’s Bates Motel) and Patrick Wilson (the Insidious films), star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

The Conjuring 2 opens in theaters on June 10, 2016.
