Spring has sprung, so grab a broom, there's lots of work to be done!

Warmer and longer days mean only one thing, it's springtime and that is where the Downtown Bangor Beautification Committee comes in. Saturday, April 20th from 9 am-12 pm, it's the annual Downtown Bangor Spring Cleanup.

Now that we are about to see less snow and more sun, it's time to spruce up the streets, sidewalks, and parks for another great summer. It's all taking place at Norumbega Parkway, which is located on Central Street.

The task of this event is to take down all of the winter lights, pick up trash, paint benches, and remove any of that pesky graffiti. This accomplishes two tasks, it makes Downtown Bangor look beautiful for the upcoming gorgeous weather that lies ahead of us, and it clears the way for the Adopt-A-Garden Big Dig Week, coming up on May 18th, when nearly 100 Adopt-A-Gardeners break ground on gardens throughout Downtown.

What do you need to do to get involved? So glad you asked! You can help out by bringing ladders, rakes, gardening gloves, and anything else that would help.

If your company or organization would like to sponsor or volunteer at this event, all you have to do is send an e-mail to downtownbangormaine@gmail.com.

People who would like to volunteer can meet up in Norumbega Parkway (On the Central Street side) starting at 9 am, on Saturday, April 20th to get things started.

This is a perfect way to get outdoors, get some fresh air, and best of all, get Downtown Bangor ready for what is hopefully going to be a fun, spring and summer season here in the Queen City!
