A Winslow High School student was charged with terrorizing, a Class C felony, in connection with a bomb scare at the school last week.

The student has been identified as Brandon Ward, 18, of Winslow, according to a news release sent out by the Winslow Police Department on Monday.

On Friday, April 8, Ward told school officials that he discovered a threatening message written on a wall in the boys’ restroom, police said.

After conducting several interviews and reviewing surveillance footage, police determined that Ward was the person who wrote the message, the release said.

After the message was reported to school officials at about 8:45 a.m., students were evacuated to the junior high school, and the building was searched by police and explosive-detection K-9s.

The building was deemed safe, and students returned to class at 10:45 a.m.

Ward's arraignment is scheduled for June 27 at Kennebec Superior Court in Augusta.
