A teenager is accused of shooting a Scarborough man while he slept.

The Portland Press Herald reports that the 17-year-old was arrested after police stopped a vehicle at around 1 o'clock Friday morning. Deputy Police Chief David Grover announced the arrest at a news conference Friday morning, but didn't indicate any motive in the shooting. The youth's name is not being released at this time, because he's a juvenile. He's being held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

Police have not commented on the connection between the teen and Bruce Glidden, who was shot twice in the torso early Monday morning. Glidden was sleeping on the couch in the family room when he was shot. His wife and children were sleeping in another part of the house and woke to the sound of gunfire. They were not threatened in the attack. Glidden's brother, Bill Cashman, told the PPH that he 'had no idea why his brother's house was targeted.'

Windows in a vehicle belonging to the Glidden family were broken out on the night of the shooting. Police say they were broken with an object, rather than being shot out. A window was also broken out in Glidden's work truck about a week before the shooting, but no police report was filed.

The teen is scheduled to appear in juvenile court at the Cumberland County Courthouse in Portland for a detention hearing today. Police say the boy's parents have been cooperative with investigators.
