Is there a recurring SNL sketch more divisive than "The Californians"? For everyone who loves it, there is someone else who thinks it's one of the worst things to ever happen to the show. The latest edition won't change any minds, but the return of Kristen Wiig does make it a little more special than the past couple of times they've trotted it out.

Although SNL is known for frequently pushing the boundaries of good taste, it tends to favor comedy of the sexual and political nature above anything else. That's why a certain sketch on last night's Kristen Wiig-hosted episode proved to be a massive shock -- it's not every day that the longrunning comedy variety show gets violent.

Since it's produced so quickly, SNL will never not take advantage of any holiday that arrives near its air date. That meant that last night's episode saw a handful of mom-themed sketches in honor of Mother's Day! The great Kristen Wiig returned to host SNL this week, giving the show an opportunity to resurrect all of the characters that vanished from show since her departure a year ago. Although many great characters came back, none were quite as exciting as the return of Target Lady, one of the most popular characters in all of modern SNL.

Last night's SNL saw saw Vince Vaughn hosting for the second time...although it's been fifteen years since he last graced this particular state. For his opening monologue, the 'Swingers' and 'Wedding Crashers' star didn't do anything traditional, opting to do what he does best: riff. And with no Owen Wilson around, Vaughn turned to the audience to be his comedic sparring partner.

SNL knows that it is a good thing in Bill Hader's wonderfully deranged Al Pacino impression and they put it to good use on last night's episode, having the incredibly talented performer play Pacino playing multiple roles. Parodying Pacino's involvement in HBO films like 'You Don't Know Jack' and 'Phil Spector,' the sketch finds Hader's Pacino making HBO biopics where he plays every convicted murderer under the sun.
