Of the many changes in store for the 40th season of 'SNL,' none would prove so heartbreaking as the loss of beloved announcer Don Pardo, who passed away earlier this year. No one could ever replace Pardo's distinct intonation announcing every 'SNL' installment, though the new voice of the sketch comedy series will at least be a familiar one, as distinguished alum Darrell Hammond takes the mic.

Despite 'SNL' heading into its landmark 40th season (and shedding a few players in the process), things have been curiously quiet on the front of NBC's beloved sketch comedy show, particularly with regard to its initial hosts. Now, the network confirms that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Parks and Recreation' star Chris Pratt will host the September 27 premiere with musical guest Ariana Grande, preceding comedian Sarah Silverman, while rumors suggest legendary alum Bill Murray will follow!

Apart from all the good spirits of the evening, every Emmys inevitably becomes a somber occasion in honoring those we've lost over the course of the year. It's been a good news-bad news kind of day for NBC viewers, as the same afternoon that saw 'Hannibal' renewed for a third season also gave birth to 'Community''s season 5 cancellation. Now, the peacock has thrown a few more logs on the fire, among them freshman comedy 'Growing Up Fisher,' sci-fi flop 'Believe,' and surprisingly, the two-season 'Revolution.'

Well, this feels familiar. 'Community' astonishingly gravitated closer and closer to its "Six Seasons and a Movie" mantra, particularity when season 5 saw acclaimed showrunner Dan Harmon return to the fold, but NBC has at long last called it quits. 'Community' has officially been canceled, according to the network, but will the Greendale Gang go on?

It's been a good day for TV comic adaptations. Following The CW's official orders of 'The Flash' and 'iZombie,' Warner Bros. is adding another to the plate. NBC's 'Constantine' has officially been given the series green light, adapting the supernatural detective to live action for a second incarnation.
