The bizarre subculture of dime-store Christmas movies seems oddly pervasive this year, and has not gone unnoticed at SNL. The “Not Ready for Primetime Players” have at least one more gift in the form of a cut short, featuring host James Franco in an endless stream of indistinguishable Hallmark Channel classics.
SNL had already declared Saoirse Ronan as our first December host, and the time has come to round out 2017. James Franco will return to the sketch comedy series, as will comedian Kevin Hart and some fan-favorite musical guests to close out the year.
Say what you will about James Franco, you can’t deny he isn’t a prolific artist. With a metric ton of projects that are either ongoing or announced, Franco has enough work to keep him busy for the next half a century. And like any actor-director, he has his favored collaborators, and he’s just announced that Bryan Cranston will play a younger version of himself for their third collaboration together.
Had enough of those never-ending stills yet? Good news — the Alien: Covenant trailer is here, and it’s equal parts stunning and downright horrifying. Watch as a sinister particle drifts into an android’s ear, cringe as a man leans over a slowly hatching alien egg, marvel at the sweeping, beautiful landscapes of a planet we all know is full of creatures that want to kill us! Oh, and I am never, ever taking a shower again.
Equal parts electrifying and enigmatic (what baffling performance of James Franco’s isn’t?), Hulu’s take on Stephen King’s time-travel thriller 11.22.63 completed the basic spine of the author’s novel, centered around the assassination of JFK. That said, the limited series’ breakout success wasn’t lost on Hulu or King, who revealed some surprising ideas for a sequel.
There is no combination of the phrases “James Franco,” “time travel,” “save JFK,” or “Hulu” that fails to amuse, and yet, J.J. Abrams and Stephen King have gone ahead and given it their darnest. Anyway, watch James Franco go back in the closet to 1963 for the first full trailer of Hulu’s time-travelin’, JFK-savin’, Franco-fronted 11.22.63! Some Chris Cooper required.
Lana opened up about the single's initial formation, how the track's beat ultimately elevated it to its current incarnation and she even talked that book James Franco wrote.
