Sad news to report to 'American Idol' fans, as Season 7 contestant Michael Johns died yesterday, Aug. 1, due to an ankle blood clot. He was 35 years old.

Sounds like there may be two Jennifers on the 'American Idol' panel this fall. Jennifer Hudson reportedly signed on to judge the somewhat struggling Fox juggernaut, and now former judge Jennifer Lopez may be rejoining the judges' table.

If there is a death knell of 'American Idol,' it seems as though this news could be the first ring. The notoriously successful tour that follows each season of the show has been forced to cancel nine tour stops on this year's foray. This is a bad sign.
