Look!

It's a bird! It's a plane!

Well maybe not, but it certainly has the attention of a lot of folks on Facebook.

This video was posted on YouTube last week and it has people wondering what they're looking at.

The Oxford County Emergency Dispatch Center reported they received no calls on the object seen in the video which was recorded last week.

The National Weather Service in Gray was familiar with the sighting, but they don't officially track meteors or other space weather reports. They did however suggest it was nothing more than a plane contrail illuminated by the setting sun.

As one of the many inquiring minds, I wanted to see if I could get more information on what was captured on camera.

I have a call in to the Southworth Planetarium at the University of Southern Maine to see what they can tell me.

I'll let you know what they have to say when they get back to me.
