Police have identified the victim of a sledding accident at Sunday River as a High School Senior from New Hampshire.

WLBZ-TV reports David Kohlhase, a senior at Portsmouth High School, was killed during a sledding accident at the Sunday River ski resort. Kohlhase and two others entered the resort after hours and were sledding down one of the steepest trails on the mountain, using an inflatable tube, when the sled crashed into a tree. Kohlhase was killed and another New Hampshire teenager was injured. A third person called 911 at around 2:00 Wednesday morning for help.

Sledding is not allowed on the ski trails at Sunday River and the mountain was closed for the night. The teens had picked one the of the steepest trails on the mountain, the Tempest Trail, which is designed for expert and intermediate skiers.
