State Police say speed is the cause of a one-vehicle crash Saturday in Prospect that killed two men and critically injured a third.

The crash took place on the North Searsport Road in Prospect about 5:30 p.m., according to a news release from Maine State Police.

The vehicle was a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup which, struck a utility pole and rolled over several times coming to rest upright.

John Moriarty 59, from Bangor, Brad Pomeroy, 35, Searsport, and Adam Littlefield 31, Winterport were all ejected from the vehicle and troopers have not yet determined who was driving. .

Moriarty and Pomeroy died at the scene.

Littlefield was transported to EMMC and is in critical condition with multiple injuries. The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
