Portions of Southwest Harbor, including the lower town dock, have been closed as police respond to the report of a suspicious object that was spotted in the area. Police say there is no risk to the public.

The Mount Desert Islander reports the object was spotted at the Lower Town Dock and appears to be a propane tank with wires attached to it.

The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency posted on its Facebook page that Clark Point Road, Southwest Harbor, in the vicinity of the USCG base, was closed as Public Safety responded to the area. That road is, reportedly, back open.

We will update this story as details become available.
