"No more yanky my wanky! The donger need food!"

May 4th, 1984, was a big day for a whole generation of teens. "Sixteen Candles" was released to movie theatres and thirty years later, kids today are still finding it on cable and Netflix.

Molly Ringwald, THE teen icon of her generation, played Samantha Baker, a teen whose family forgets her 16th birthday because they are too wrapped up in her older sister Ginny's wedding.

Farmer Ted, Jake Ryan, and Long Duck Dong, are some of the cast of characters who make this one of the great coming of age movies of all time. It's one of those movies that if I am hanging out with my old high school friends, we can just about quote it line by line. Maybe if I had a few dates back then I would have watched less tv, but I still pop this one in the DVD player now and then and the rush of nostalgia gets me every single time.

Of course it's a bit dated and many of the Long Duck Dong jokes would be a PC nightmare in this day and age, but here in no particular order, are some of my favorite scenes from "Sixteen Candles" and the original theatrical trailer.
