Police spent part of Friday afternoon chasing an alleged shoplifter who had just assaulted a Walmart employee. The suspect was caught on video surveillance and then by police.

Bangor Police say officers were called to the Bangor Walmart store at around 2:30 Friday afternoon to the report of a shoplifter. Video surveillance footage showed the man being confronted after trying to leave the store with a laptop. Police say he punched the employee in the head and then fled on foot.

A search of the area resulted in the suspect being spotted near Blue Seal Feeds on Stillwater Avenue. Police continued their chase until he was taken into custody. Daimon Clark, age 35 of Bangor, is charged with Felony Robbery and violating the conditions of his release. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
