Shelters Open in Wake of Ice Storm [Updated 6:25pm ]
The skies have cleared for the most part today leaving only the cleanup following a two-day ice storm that left some parts of Maine covered in an inch of ice.
As Mainers go about last minute preparations for Christmas, thousands have been plunged into darkness as the state's utility companies announce this morning as many as 100,000 customers were in the dark as of 5AM.
Maine Emergency Management Agency officials in county EMA offices are keeping an eye on conditions, as is the Red Cross.
Power companies are concerned that much colder temperatures and winds picking up may cause more outages to happen.
MEMA and Red Cross have the following shelters open at this time and we'll keep this list updated for you.
