Wednesday morning, keep an eye to the sky.

Earth will be treated to the second lunar eclipse of 2014 Wednesday morning! It's the second, and final, full 'blood moon' of the year. It will be visible in the United States and Canada starting at 6:25AM. NASA predicts the eclipse to last until 7:24AM.

The blood moon's reddish tint comes from the sunsets and sunrises reflecting onto the surface of the moon, as it passes through the earth's shadow.

The eclipse will happen two days after a lunar perigee, when the moon is closest to earth. Because of its timing with the lunar perigee, NASA says the moon will appear 5.3% larger than the previous 'blood moon.' FYI: the last 'blood moon' was April 15th.

This is the second in series of four lunar eclipses in a row, which is known as a 'tetrad.' Earth will only see eight tetrads this century. The next tetrad is expected around 2032 or 2033.
