Here in New England, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is a very unpopular guy, especially after morning comments by the owner and quarterback of the New England Patriots.

Unless you live under a rock, you know that Goodell and the NFL upheld its four game suspension of Tom Brady yesterday, setting off a firestorm of sorts throughout New England.  This morning, Patriots owner Robert Kraft denounced the decision of Goodell and the NFL saying, "I was wrong to put my faith in the league."  Meanwhile, quarterback Tom Brady, now the one time poster boy of the NFL, called Deflatgate a "manufactured investigation" and maintained his innocence.

Also this morning it was revealed that Commissioner Goodell owns property here in Maine.  According to the Portland Press Herald, Goodell owns a $6.5 million house on Bohemia Way in Scarborough.  The NFL is concerned about his safety and his property, and yesterday contacted the Scarborough Police Department.

Chief Robbie Moulton told the Herald, "They did reach out and let us know about the decision and that it might not be popular. We’re aware of the situation and will be patrolling the area certainly.”  He is not aware of any actual threats on Goodell or his property.

Goodell had vacationed in the area prior to buying the house, and married a former news reporter that once was on Portland's WCSH-TV.

The Scarborough Chief said that this is not the first time that cops have had to keep an eye on Goodell's property after an unpopular decision.
