A Rockport sophomore, who was injured in a car accident earlier this month, has died.

According to the BDN, 16-year-old Robert Bishop passed away Tuesday. An examination by the Medical Examiner's Office is planned to determine cause of death, which is standard procedure in the death of a minor.

Bishop was driving an SUV March 20th on the Hosmer Road in Camden, just before 11 p.m., when it struck a tree. He was seriously hurt, while his three passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries. Police told the BDN that an investigation into the crash is ongoing, but it's believed speed and driver inexperience were factors. Bishop did not have a driver's license.

Grief counselors will be available to students at Camden Hills High School, where he was a student.
