Road Trip Worthy: This Maine Restaurant is One of the Few Remaining Drive-In Restaurants in the Country
Amazing food, and you don’t even have to leave your car!
The Fat Boy Drive-In in Brunswick has been a summertime tradition for Mainers for over 60 years. Located near the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, Fat Boys (locals tend to add an ‘s’ to the name) has been serving customers right from the comfort of their vehicle since 1955.
Fat Boy is one of the few remaining restaurants with carhop service in the country. Simply turn on your headlights for service! A carhop will bring your food right to your car. They also have indoor seating available.
Their food consists of standards like hot dogs, lobster rolls, cheeseburgers and fried clams. Their old-fashioned onion rings are absolutely incredible. They also have hands down the best frappes in the state!
The restaurant is seasonal with varying hours. Their current spring hours are Monday-Wednesday 11AM-4PM, Thursday-Sunday 11AM-8PM.
It’s also worth noting they’re a cash only establishment. There’s an ATM on-site if you need it.
Fat Boy Drive-In is located at 111 Bath Rd in Brunswick. Just pull into a parking space, and turn on the headlights!
