If this was 2002, that headline would be even more believable. You better make yourself a Jill sandwich (we'll never forget/forgive that one), because Resident Evil is being remade... again.

Capcom has announced we're getting the re-release of the remake of the original Resident Evil. Now, who do we have to kill to get at least one remake for Resident Evil 2. Nevertheless, it's great to revisit the Arklay Mountains of Raccoon City and replay Resident Evil's tank controls in an all-new remastered version of the 2002 remake coming to both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The original Resident Evil was released in 1996, and was remade in 2002 for GameCube from the ground-up. We honestly loved the 2002 remake, it had an excellent use of atmosphere and the Crimson Head zombies scared the hell out of us.

This remastered version of the remake will have its textures, models and resolutions significantly upgraded. Expect 1080p and 60fps on next-gen consoles. What's even more surprising, is that there will be a control scheme that will no longer have Chris and Jill turning like the top of a tank each time you need to change directions. This could be Capcom's ways of testing the waters as to where to take the Resident Evil franchise from here. The action-oriented gameplay of Jake and Chris' scenarios in Resident Evil 6 (taking up two-thirds of the entire game) was widely disliked by fans and critics alike, with most players praising only Leon's zombie-filled parts. Nevertheless, we're glad to see Capcom still cares about survival horror.

Unfortunately, we're unsure of what else is being added to this remastered remake besides its updated graphics, controls and audio. Resident Evil will be available for digital purchase on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One Xbox 360 and PC in early 2015.
