I know I've said it before, but it seems like Hollywood is remaking EVERYTHING! And in my opinion, they're starting to mess with some sacred territory! Mary Poppins, the Disney classic, has been a staple in my life since I was a little girl. This woman helped us realize that if we have the right outlook, even the suckiest situations are bearable...ala A Spoonfull Of Sugar. And then there was the time she mastered reverse psychology with over-tired kids in the classic lullaby, Stay Awake!? You better believe I took notes there! And who didn't love trying to figure out how to say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!?

Julie Andrews was (and still is) such a great example of smarts, poise and intelligence laced with spunk and confidence. Certainly in movies like The Sound Of Music and My Fair Lady was this always the case. But in Mary Poppins, she added such a beautiful sense of whimsy that was like frosting on her cake built of sense, strength and songs. I just can't imagine anyone capturing that spirit as well as she did. Don't get me wrong, Emily Blunt is a talented actress, but in a day and age where I can't get her appearance on LL Cool J's Lyp Sync Battle out of my head, its harder to imagine her embodying one of my childhood favorites with same the poise and grace Andrews played her.

And let me just go on the record and say if they try to remake The Goonies or Labyrinth, I'm going on strike!

What are your thoughts? Do you have a favorite that you'd be upset to see remade? Inquiring minds (or perhaps just mine) want to know!
