Bangor Hydro Electric Crews and crews as far as away from New Jersey are working to restore power to the slightly more than 17,000 customers without power in the Bangor Hydro Electric Service territory.

While they are working hard, the frigid temperatures are not allowing any melting of the ice on the lines. Customers without power should be sure to take advantage of the warming shelters that are open throughout the region.

Restoration Details:Crews and support staff from Bangor Hydro, Maine Public Service and external crews from as far away as New Jersey are spending the Christmas holiday working to restore power after a multi-day ice storm left thousands without power. Crews have reported broken poles, fallen lines and ice-coated tree limbs falling down across Hancock, Washington and Penobscot Counties. With today's frigid temperatures, the ice is not expected to melt any time soon.Warming centers and shelters are open in the affected counties to provide some relief from the cold.
