Police have released the identity of a man whose body was found lying on the ground Tuesday night at the end of a driveway in Bucksport.

The body of Richard Newbegin, 72, was found just before 6 p.m. outside his rental cabin on Grant Lane, the Maine Department of Public Safety said Wednesday.

Newbegin's body was bloody, and he was not breathing when he was found.

The state police Major Crimes Unit-North responded to the scene at the request of Bucksport police.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday at the Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta.

Police said furthur testing is required to determine a cause of death.

Foul play is not suspected.
