The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office has released the names of two people killed yesterday in a motorcycle crash in Clifton. It was just after six o'clock Sunday afternoon when Sheriff's deputies were called to Route 9 in Clifton for a report of a motorcycle accident.

The Sheriff's office said in a press release today that a motorcycle driven by 40-year-old Jason Emerson of Bangor had crossed over the center line and hit a guardrail, ejecting both occupants.

Emerson was killed, as was his passenger, 36-year-old Elizabeth Gould of Bangor. Witnesses told the investigating deputies that the Harley Davidson motorcycle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles before the accident happened.

Both Emerson and Gould were pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
