Police Looking for Man Considered Armed and Dangerous

Trickett, PCJ

Maine State Police say they have issued a statewide bulletin to be on the look out for a man who they say is considered armed and dangerous. Jason Trickett is believed to be headed to First Street in Bangor, possibly to purchase drugs, according to a Sunday news release.

Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says the 42-year-old transient is wanted for allegedly stealing a loaded handgun, a Jeep, and cash from a home in Machiasport. Police say Trickett stabbed a Bangor man to death last year in a fight on First Street. He was found not guilty of manslaughter in September.

The vehicle Trickett allegedly took is a silver 1998 Jeep with the license plate 7979TL. Police urge anyone who sees this vehicle to call 911 immediately. Trickett is considered armed and dangerous, so residents are cautioned not to approach him or confront him in any way.

The items were reported to have been taken from a home in Machiasport where Trickett was staying. The incident was reported just after 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

In May of 2012, Trickett told police that he hadn’t meant to stab Andy Smith, 38, during a group fight on First Street in Bangor. He claimed he just wanted to knock his friend down. According to police affidavits, Trickett has been drinking and drugging all day. He was found not guilty of manslaughter in a jury-waived trial in September.

Trickett is described as 5’10″ tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Maine State Police at 866-2122 or 911. Again, they consider Trickett armed and dangerous, so residents are urged NOT to approach or confront him.
