Police are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was discovered last night.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says police consider the death of an Eastport man suspicious. The body of the elderly man was found inside a house on Clark Street about 10 p.m. on Thursday. Officers had gone to the house to check on his welfare.

The man's body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta overnight for an autopsy to determine cause of death. A team of State Police detectives are in Eastport investigating the death. We'll update this story as more information, including the victim's identity, becomes available.
