Maine State Police are investigating the shooting of a man at a home in Eddington.

WABI-TV reports Penobscot County Sheriff's deputies were called to the Hill Street home just after 6 a.m. Sunday. The State Police major crimes unit later took over the investigation.

Police say the man who was shot entered the home but did not live there. He's currently hospitalized with possibly life-threatening injuries. Investigators are still working to determine who fired the gun, as there was a large group of people in the home at the time. Charges may be filed.

A white SUV has been marked as evidence and towed from the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.
