Brewer police believe two men who were arrested for allegedly making meth in their car on Tuesday are connected to the discovery of a suspected meth lab inside a local motel that same day.

Sean Murphy, 25, and Robert Seeley, 37, were “actively engaged” in meth-making when police responded to a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Big Apple convenience store on South Main Street on Tuesday, Brewer Deputy Police Chief Jason Moffitt told the Bangor Daily News.

Murphy and Seeley were arrested and charged with unlawful operation of a methamphetamine laboratory.

Tuesday night, a possible meth lab was discovered at the Village Green Motel on Wilson Street.

“We’re 100 percent convinced that [the lab at the motel] is connected to the methamphetamine lab on South Main Street,” Moffitt said.

Police say Murphy and Seeley are not suspected of being involved in a meth-making operation that was discovered at a home on North Main Street, near the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge.

The suspected lab was discovered when officers went to the home to execute a search warrant on Monday. Walter Botelho, 51, was arrested on a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Moffitt says drug agents were at the home conducting an investigation on Tuesday, and Botelho could face drug-related charges once the investigation is complete.
