UPDATE: Police have identified he three victims as Lori Hayden, 52, of Madison and her son, Dustin Tuttle, 25, along with Michael Spalding, 57.  A fourth person was wounded in the shootings, Harvey Austin, 57, of Skowhegan. The alleged shooter was identified as Carroll Tuttle Jr., the husband of Lori Hayden and the father of Dustin Tuttle. ORIGINAL STORY: Police are in Madison this morning at the scene of a homicide that's left four people -- including the gunman -- dead and one wounded.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says three people were shot to death and a fourth person was wounded in shootings this morning at several locations along Russell Road. Somerset County deputies then confronted the gunman nearby and he was shot and killed. No police officers were injured in the incident.

A team of investigators are on the scenes of the shootings, along with the Somerset County Sheriff's Office. The Attorney General's office has also sent a group of its investigators to the scene to review the shots fired by deputies. The shootings were reported just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Russell Road is closed to traffic near the crime scenes and will likely remain closed for the rest of the day. Names of the victims is being withheld, pending notification of family.
