PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Devs Hit with Layoffs

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

SuperBot, the developers behind PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, have just laid off a currently-unknown number of their employees.

IGN has reported on a statement provided by Sony, confirming the lay offs.

The statement is as follows:

SCEA can confirm that SuperBot Entertainment did make a reduction in their workforce today. The studio and SCEA remain committed to supporting PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale post launch, including developing the title’s forthcoming DLC releases in the coming months. The first character pack (including Kat from Gravity Rush and Emmett Graves from Starhawk) will be available for download on February 12 and will be free for the first two weeks. We’ll be sharing news of additional upcoming content soon.

The statement, while confirming the layoffs, does not give a number for those affected. They do, however, assure the public that content will still be coming down the chute for the game. News of the layoffs was first discovered thanks to a tweet from Mike Birkhead, a developer at Insomniac.

We’ll update you on this story once further details are revealed. It’s been a rough week for folks in the industry, with a major company like THQ shutting down and the fate of Gas Powered Games hinging on their Wildman Kickstarter project. Our regards go out to all of these people that have been affected by bad news this week.
