An 86-year-old driver and his passenger were hurt when a plastic container crashed through their windshield on Route 161 in Madawaska Lake on Monday, according to Maine State Police.

State Police say Patrick and Alice Chasse of Frenchville suffered minor injuries, including cuts from the broken glass.

Trooper Chuck Michaud said "the container was a one gallon size typically sold in supermarkets that contained an orange flavored drink."

Police say it's possible the container came from a vehicle that was driving ahead of the couple. Police are trying to locate the driver and say it's possible that person isn't even aware of the accident.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or the accident is asked to call Maine State Police at 532-5400.
