A pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m. near Hobby Lobby and Buffalo Wild Wings, according to a news release from the Bangor Police Department.

It has been determined that the pedestrian, 29-year-old man from Bangor, stepped out into traffic and into the side of a passing vehicle.

That vehicle was driven by Kimberlee Hal, 58, from Orono.  The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, which appear at this time to be non life threatening.

Stillwater Avenue was shut down for a short period of time while the accident scene was investigated.  Traffic flow has been returned to normal.

The accident remains under investigation.

One lane of traffic was closed due to the accident, causing delays for motorists Friday afternoon.
