A 78-year-old man was taken to the hospital after being struck by a car in Ellsworth.

WABI-TV reports the accident happened at around 4:30 Friday afternoon. A 75-year-old man from Surry was making a left turn at the intersection of Water and Main Streets when he was blinded by the sun. The glare prevented him from seeing another man who was crossing the street.

Police say the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and suffered head trauma in the accident. So far, authorities haven't released the names of the men involved, as the investigation continues.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
