A pedestrian was critically injured when he was struck by a Livermore Police cruiser on Friday night.

The Portland Press Herald reports that it was originally believed that 24-year-old Joseph Slaver was struck by the cruiser while it was headed south on Park Street. But now, police say, the man 'struck' the cruiser's front panel, damaging the front fender. At last report, Slaver was listed in critical condition. The cruiser was driven by Officer Troy Reed.

The crash will be investigated by jurisdictions other than the Livermore Police, as is customary in cruiser-involved accidents.
