A woman whose SUV was hit from behind in Orrington on September 13th has died of her injuries. Deputies say the investigation is continuing.

Robin Rie, age 59 of Brewer, was preparing to turn into a vegetable stand on Route 15 when her SUV was hit from behind by a car driven by Marc Sparks, age 29 of Bucksport. The impact of the crash sent Rie's vehicle into the porch of a nearby house. Witnesses say Sparks stopped his car briefly, and then took off.

At the time of the accident, witnesses performed CPR on Rie until emergency crews could arrive. She has been hospitalized ever since. On Monday, Penobscot County Chief Deputy Troy Morton said in a press release that Rie had passed away from injuries sustained in that accident.

The Sheriff's office will continue to investigate the crash and, once that investigation is completed, the findings will be turned over to the District Attorney's office to determine whether charges will be filed.
