Here's a chance to see and enjoy a beautiful Maine landmark!

Every year, up to 18,000 people visit one or more of these coastal Maine treasures during  Open Lighthouse Day!  This year day is the 7th annual, and it happens on Saturday, September 12th, between 9AM and 3PM, and most is not all tours are FREE!  There may be some costs associated with parking and transportation.

Maine has 65 standing lighthouses, more so than any other state in the nation!

"The public really looks forward to this event each year," said Bob Trapani, Jr., American Lighthouse Foundation Executive Director. "Though lighthouses are the 'stars' of Open Lighthouse Day, visitors also enjoy basking in the beauty of the Maine coast, which uniquely embraces each sentinel. You can't beat it for a fun-filled family experience!"

Some of the lighthouses that will be open for free tours include:  Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse, Burnt Coat Court Lighthouse which is off Swan's Island, Boothbay Harbor Lighthouse, Camden Harbor Lighthouse, the Dyce Head Lighthouse in Castine, the Grindle Point Lighthouse off Islesboro, the Little River Lighthouse in Cutler Harbor, Marshall Point Lighthouse in Owls Head, the Monhegan Island Lighthouse, the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse which is a one quarter mile hike out on the breakwater, and the Eastern most point in the U.S, the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec!
