One Direction are ready to embrace new wave when they record a cover version of Blondie's 'One Way or Another,' which charted years before any of the guys in 1D were born. The remake will support Comic Relief's Red Nose Day, which takes place in the U.K. on March 15 and aims to raise money for disadvantaged youth.

1D's Harry Styles said in a statement, "We have grown up with Comic Relief and taken part in lots of Red Nose Days at school, so we were thrilled to be asked to do this year's Red Nose Day single. It's such an honor for us. We can't wait to perform our version of this iconic pop song and raise as much money as possible for this incredibly important cause that is really close to our hearts."

Bandmate Zayn Malik added, "At school Red Nose Day was a big deal! Me and my friends used to really look forward to it. I remember one year we all came in in our pajamas, which was pretty cool!"

One Direction's cover will be the official single for the 2013 event. The guys are taking over that mantle from the Wanted, who performed the official Red Nose Day 2011 song, 'Gold Forever.'

'One Way or Another' hit No. 24 in 1979 for Blondie, the new wave superstars led by Debbie Harry who were inducted into the rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Will One Direction keep the snarling attitude and loud guitars of the original, or will they resculpt the tune into a harmony-driven pop song? Find out when the single drops on iTunes in February.
