This Saturday, Hirundo Wildlife Refuge in Old Town is the place to be for the whole family.  They will be hosting Winter Fun Days where you can enjoy dog sled rides and lots of outdoor winter activities like snowshoe racing, cross country skiing, snow sculptures and lots of other things for all ages!

The event runs from 10 AM to 3 PM at the refuge field and Parker Reed Shelter with the following on the itinerary:

10 AM – 2 PM

  • Dog sled rides 
  • Curling Lac d’Or
  • Snowshoeing
  • Indoor art project 
  • Winter Scavenger Hunt/ Bingo 
  • Ice Bubbles & Skating 
  • Campfires

11 AM – 12 PM

  • Winter Ecology: Animal signs / Survival adaptations

There will also be racing and games including a biathlon from 12:30 PM - 1 PM that will include a snowshoe race and target hitting as well as an animal snow sculpture contest from 10 AM - 2 PM.  The event will wrap up with naming the winners of the Winter Games and best snow sculpture.

General admission tickets are available for members ($7) and non-members ($12), UMaine students ($10).  Children twelve and younger get in free!  Tickets are available for purchase thru Eventbrite.
