No downtown mobile munchies for you, for now at least.

The Business and Economic Development Committee decided to put a motion to allow a year round food truck set up in Pickering Square on the back burner. The committee felt it was a bad time to allow a new business into the square. Soon city engineers, development officials and stakeholders will look to design a plan to redevelop the square.

Much like what took place in West Market square this summer, Pickering Square is next in line for some TLC. Work will begin in summer of 2015 or 2016.

For now food trucks can set up shop along the Bangor Waterfront or in the K Mart parking lot. Pompeii Pizza and Wild Cow Creamery both call the Bangor Waterfront home. They both follow rules set by the city including clearing out of the area for events, leaving the site each night and operating within certain hours of the day.

Earlier this month the owners of Cielos and Schnitzel’s food trucks announced they will be leaving Bangor for a more year round operating climate, in California.
